Another small gallery of pictures I’ve taken in the last year. Basically, places with trees. I am always attracted to trees, I don’t know why, I like to take pictures of them. What I’ve noticed too selecting this pictures is that they are very dark. I guess it comes with the mood of this last year. Comes to my mind too, that some day I’d like to visit Iceland. I see pictures of waterfalls and northern lights there and the news about volcanoes ready to erupt, and it all seems fascinating to me. Music from Bjork or Sigur Ros is quite often in my headphones while working or relaxing at home. TV shows like Trapped give me the shivers (literally) with those cold landscapes and its crime mysteries. But there are not many trees there, I heard. Perhaps it is an interesting place to escape from all this BREXIT nonsense. Have you been in Iceland?
Just a small gallery of mobile pictures. These were taken in Cambridge, almost 2 years ago. Some parks I used to visit almost daily, the door to my small studio in Trumpington, a place full of memories. A pub called the Wrestlers, possibly the best Thai restaurant in Cambridge. A fish and chips van that was conveniently parked that night next to my place. A popular bar I went a few times for birthday celebrations and meetings with friends and colleagues. Some ice cream picture, of course. Another pub I used to go often with my daughter on Sundays. A beer on a table, I don’t remember where… Soon I will post a few more.
Last day of 2014. Its been a difficult year for me. And for lots of other people. Yesterday I was walking in Cambridge, in a cold but sunny day, thinking about what exactly attached me to this place. Not only me, but some people I know has asked me the same question recently. And to be honest, some days I don’t know. Others, like yesterday, I think there is still potential. Cambridge in sunny days is beautiful. There are things I still love, and future things I will love, I’m sure. Today I really would like to forget 2014. Facebook’s clumsy attempt on making memorable posts for the year was not very welcome in my case either. At the same time, I know today there will be people in far worse situations. And people helping out instead of partying till late. And that puts things in perspective and makes me think that I shouldn’t worry so much. So, I truly wish 2015 to be a great year for everyone. It must be. That’s my only new year’s resolution. 🙂
Just an interesting stair I saw in Cambridge, yesterday. I only had my mobile at hand, so here it is, another mobile picture. And the funny thing is that this is my first “Explored” picture in Flickr ever! And I joined in 2008, that talks a lot about how the whole interestingness algorithm works… 😉
About the title, I’ll explain it in a future post. Good weekend!
This days are hot here in UK. In a way, its different to what I’m used to in Madrid, where the weather is less humid. With just above 20ºC there is a quite summery sensation. More if it is a sunny day. Reach 30ºC and they call it heat wave. Ha!, in Madrid we usually get to 40ºC and in some parts of the south of Spain even a bit more. But it feels completely different. Any way, what I think we have missed this year is a proper winter. These pictures are from a few years ago, where we had a proper snow falls. I remember that some airports were closed, and satellite pictures of the British islands entirely covered in snow made the news. It felt really much colder than in Madrid. Although winters in Madrid are usually cold enough. Something that still is surprising to some people I speak to.
A couple sitting in a bench at Cambridge’s Botanic Garden, a place I really like. This was taken from the inside of one of the glasshouses. The one where the weather is like in a jungle. The dirt in the glass is a mixture of condensation and actual… dirt.
My entry for this weekly photo challenge. Just a car, a very common object these days. I found it parked in front of that blue house while walking around in Cambridge a few years ago. Someone decided to put a red bike behind, I should have moved a blue one in its place… 😉
Cold outside, warm inside. Taken a few years ago, in a coffee in Cambridge. It was freezing outside. The frost in the window is the proof. Also the snow in the cars and the road. I tried several processes with this one, and this high contrast black and white was the one I most liked. Just the silhouettes.
