Another small gallery of pictures I’ve taken in the last year. Basically, places with trees. I am always attracted to trees, I don’t know why, I like to take pictures of them. What I’ve noticed too selecting this pictures is that they are very dark. I guess it comes with the mood of this last year. Comes to my mind too, that some day I’d like to visit Iceland. I see pictures of waterfalls and northern lights there and the news about volcanoes ready to erupt, and it all seems fascinating to me. Music from Bjork or Sigur Ros is quite often in my headphones while working or relaxing at home. TV shows like Trapped give me the shivers (literally) with those cold landscapes and its crime mysteries. But there are not many trees there, I heard. Perhaps it is an interesting place to escape from all this BREXIT nonsense. Have you been in Iceland?
Just a small gallery of mobile pictures. These were taken in Cambridge, almost 2 years ago. Some parks I used to visit almost daily, the door to my small studio in Trumpington, a place full of memories. A pub called the Wrestlers, possibly the best Thai restaurant in Cambridge. A fish and chips van that was conveniently parked that night next to my place. A popular bar I went a few times for birthday celebrations and meetings with friends and colleagues. Some ice cream picture, of course. Another pub I used to go often with my daughter on Sundays. A beer on a table, I don’t remember where… Soon I will post a few more.
I took this picture in London with my mobile a few days ago, last Monday. I was waiting for an appointment somewhere close, sipping a coffee in a coffee shop from a famous coffee shops chain in Oxford Street. It should have been an easy thing, but bureaucracy always takes longer than it should. You need this paper, now you don’t… etc. It didn’t help also that I forgot some important document needed… so, I can’t entirely blame them for all. I guess my head that morning was very far from here. At least, it was a sunny morning. 🙂
Its been a while since my last post. Some recent personal events have made almost impossible for me to get time for my blog and keep it updated. Not even editing and processing pictures. I still have loads of pictures from other trips and places that, hopefully soon, will share here. In this “no time for anything” situations is where the convenience of a mobile camera shines. I took these in some places in Spain, Cambridge and London, in the last couple of months.
I wish I could forget the last couple of months… Possibly more material for future posts.
Just an interesting stair I saw in Cambridge, yesterday. I only had my mobile at hand, so here it is, another mobile picture. And the funny thing is that this is my first “Explored” picture in Flickr ever! And I joined in 2008, that talks a lot about how the whole interestingness algorithm works… 😉
About the title, I’ll explain it in a future post. Good weekend!
I’m back from my holidays. I’m also really busy these days, but I have time to share some pictures I did in the past two or three weeks with my new mobile. The image quality is not the same as the ones I take with my DSLR, but I reckon it is quite fun to use a mobile for photography. At the end, It doesn’t change too much if you just focus on the composition and light. Also there are some really good image processing apps available. The one I most like right now is VSCOCam. The filters are subtler than the instagram ones. And the basic tools for cropping, rotating, colour temperature, contrast, etc… are there for you to use. Speaking of instagram, there is something I don’t like at all and that is the forced square crop. You can use some apps to add black or white extended borders, so you don loose the original framing, but that is an extra step that I find really bothering. One thing I would like to see is RAW support on mobiles. The JPGs get quickly degraded after a few edits.
In this small gallery you can see pictures taken in Cambridge, UK and some places I’ve visited in Spain during my holidays. I will post soon some more, along others taken with my normal camera, that I hope you find interesting. First I need to recover from some kind of post-vacation depression that is affecting me much more than needed… 😉
